Upgrading to IR server (1 Viewer)

Until this morning I was happily using MP 0.2.2.0 with the message plugin and HIP. Today I upgraded to MP 0.2.3.0 which still worked fine with the message plugin and HIP. Then I wanted to replace HIP and the message plugin with the IR server. ..., didn't work and can't go back either, even a system restore does not resolve the issue, the remote is no longer working. I have to fix either one or the other and ofcourse prefer to get the IR server working.

I guess the problem started with the fact that I ONLY had the MCEIR replacement drivers and not the original eHome driver on my media PC. I tried to install the eHome drivers, ran into a lot of problems, but finally suceeded (at least it looks like that).

MUST I have the original eHome drivers, or should IR server work with the replacement drivers as well?

MUST I do the 'regedit'? The problem is that I do not have the Hidlr entry in the register. Am I missing a/some HID drivers?

Any help would be appreciated.



Update: I do have it working again with HIP and the message plugin. Had to uninstall IR server ... of ofcourse. But I still don't have IR server working. Questions above still apply.

Can you supply any logs of when IR Server failed?

You should always go with what works best for you, but if you can spare the time to try IR Server Suite again I would appreciate it if you could provide any log files?

Thank you for the reply. I have some problems to solve with the 0.2.3.0 version first, but I will try the IR server again and can then make some logs.

Can I try with the replacement drivers, or does that not work by definition? Is there an easy way to find out if the IR server is receiving the remote control commands?

Hey,

the log files for IR Server Suite will show everything I need to know regarding what's being received.

The replacement drivers are fine to use, but I recommend that people stick with the default driver if they can. But don't change a working configuration.
