This is my first post so please forgive me if it is in the wrong section. I have recently bought a laptop and am thinking of setting it up as a htpc.

I'm thinking of getting a USB DVB-T stick, but I'm not sure which one works best. I notice the freecom doesn't come with BDA drivers (altho people say it works with the YAKUMO driver?) and so was thinking of getting the 'WinFast DTV Dongle' as it comes with BDA drivers.

The only 1 post i have found on the winfast seems to be saying that it doesn't work :?

I'm not sure if there are any other usb devices better suited for mediaportal.

Has anyone had any experience with the Winfast DTV Dongle?

I have no experience with USB cards but as long as you stick with well known brands (eg. Hauppauge, DVICO etc) you should be ok. But a bit of advice now, DO NOT buy a card without BDA drivers, the chance of you getting support (bar doing it yourself) is slim to none. The work required to get cards running of the sdk drivers is much to much.

As for Leadtek, they their offerrings seem to be what you'll need, and they do have BDA drivers so you *should* have no problems.

    cool :)

Thanks for the advice, I am going to go order the leadtek :) The freecom is the same price, and from the threads on here people have it working altho the epg doesn't work and some say the yakumo drivers are buggy.

At least I know leadtek are pretty good with graphics cards etc so hopefully their dvb will be the same. I might order one of those windows media remote's or keyboards also, haven't really found any others that are as good :? .

Should be a nice upgrade from my xbox which is running media centre atm :)
