USB IR device and MP (1 Viewer)

Hi,

with my hauppauge remotew control everything works fine, but the IR device cable is too short.
I bought an USB IR dongle, but now I have no idea how to get MP used to it...
With Windows, everything is fine, hardware mananger tells me that the USB device works.
But how to get it into MP?

We're gunna need to know a lot more about the device ... what brand? what model? did it come with drivers? did it come with any software? did the dongle come with a remote? what operating system are you using?

If you can answer these questions I might be able to help you, but with the amount of information you've supplied I can't help you at all.
