I have recently migrated from WMC, everything I want is now up and running prior to a Windows upgrade from 7 to 10. Sometimes though when I put to HTPC to sleep it will not wake up using the remote. It looks like the USB port being used by the remote receiver has been turned off, the light on the receiver does not blink, although I know the remote is working because I can see the light on the TV remote receiver flash when I press a button(the TV does not respond to the remote but clearly is seeing the IR activity). Windows power settings are set to Sleep, I have not, to my knowledge, got Hibernate enabled. I can wake the HTPC up using a wifi keyboard (receiver also connected via USB), the problem clears after a reboot. Stranger still, last night after putting it to sleep when I wanted to wake it up again to set a recording up for today, the problem reoccurred so I decided to leave it till this morning and lo and behold, it woke up perfectly with a remote button press!
There was no reboot/wake up or MP log activity overnight.
All suggestions to resolve this are most welcome.

    Hi,
I had a problem with my MCE remote and the IR USB receiver who stopped working after a power cut at home that forced me to do a fresh install of MePo.
I'm on Windows 7 and I search a lot in the Web, I found this URL that maybe can be useful to you:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.co...not-working-on-windows7?forum=w7itprohardware
But finally it was very simple: after the power cut I unplugged all my USB device to reboot without them and when I plugged my IR receiver again I chose a random USB port and it was a USB3. When I realized that, I switch back to an USB2 port and the IR receiver worked back again!
I don't know if my experience is useful to you...

Check power options of your device and usb hub connected to it in DeviceManager. Uncheck "Computer can deactivate this device to save power" so your USB IR receiver stays powered on even when PC goes in standby mode.

Thanks very much for the responses, in fact the problem seems to have fixed itself it has not reoccurred for some while! Strange, I can not think of anything I may have done to induce or resolve the problem, The remote itself has was working faultlessly for a long while on Windows MC.

I checked that out and all the relavent devices either have the power options unchecked or do not have power options available.

Well stranger and stranger, the problem reoccurred last night, furthermore while investigating I found that Media Portal seems to be blocking the number keys 1-3, the other number keys are fine. If I exit MP then the number keys 1-3 are OK. With MP running when I hit 1,2 or 3 the remote receiver flashes but nothing else, including any audible tone, happens. I have set up the remote as a Sceneo Centarea with the mapping file for a Hama generic MCE remote (with this set up on my Desktop PC 1,2.3 key work fine. I have replaced the mapping file with no result but if I select an HID remote the 1,2&3 keys again work! I assume something has gone wrong with the base Sceneo Remote handler, is there anything I can do short of reinstalling MP to reset/clear the remote controller.

Scratch that, my fault I had modified these buttons with Sharpkeys to produce keyboard 1,2&3, rather than the default Numberpad 1,2&3!!!
