    Hello everyone,

So I just got a USB-UIRT and took a look at the Wiki for media portal but there does not seem to be a whole lot on using it. I'm not sure if I should spend time learning about the IRSS plugin or if I need a gridder application to map IR commands to.

I want to use this to control a set top box and receive commands that are going to mediaportal. I don't need it to control household appliances, security systems or other things.

Is there someone who is currently using this who could point me in the right direction with steps (e.g 1st install plugin "x" 2nd learn how to map ir commands/get commands, 3rd configure medis portal this way...)?

    Thanks

Use IRSS and there wasn't much to learn or setup. Be aware that the blasting of channels 0-9 and ENTER to MP will be setup within the IRSS plugin options and NOT within MP remote options. I recall that held me up for a while. I setup a colossus and a 2250, a USB-UIRT, an ATI remotewonder and a Motorola STB that works very well. I also ended up getting schedules direct and paying $20 a year because it seemed easier than remapping something else. I also use STREAMMP for a better looking guide (turn OFF worldweather when you install).

I also use EVENTGHOST but not with mediaportal. One of the neat things about my setup is ONLY the TV screen, speakers and the ati remote are in the living room. Everything else is below in the basement all I run is two HDMI cables up to the TV, one from the computer and one from the set-top-box. I use a program called EVENTGHOST to send signals from the USB-UIRT to all my electronics so I can use my ATI remote for my STB, for my stereo, etc. all down in the basement with speakers wired to different "zones" in the house.

So, as I try to get this to work, I wonder if I am setting things up correctly.

    1) Are you using your USB-UIRT only for blasting or do you use it also for IR receiving? If only for blasting, what is your receiver?
    2) What is the IRSS plug in called and is it in the TV-Server or the Media Portal configuration?
    3) So I need to uncheck the box circled in red?
    4) Can I use the USBUIRT with out IRSS...There seems to be a place in the media portal configuration?

    Thanks

P.S. Kind of answered question 1. If I have my old USB IR detector and the USB-UIRT plugged in then I get duplicate commands. Just unplugged the USB IR detector (old one) and all is good!

Still am interested in the other questions...esp #4
    Thanks

One more problem that I have with the USB-UIRT is that it won't wake my HTPC from sleeping. My old usb-ir receiver would wake it up. Kind of a bummer. Has anyone else had this problem?

So I figured it out. If you have the USB-UIRT, You can program up to 4 IR codes to "Wake" the computer. This is done though a small program supplied on the USB-UIRT web site called Lrnhelper.exe

TV Server - it is called the TVE3 Blaster Plugin
