This may not be possible but I thought it would be a nice feature to have... being able to unlock windows using the remote control. If you have multiple logons permitted in WinXP, you don't need to press ctrl-alt-del for the password prompt (I presume ctrl-alt-del via remote would be difficult if not impossible to map). But if the prompt is already there, being able to type into it with the remote would be nice.

This could only happen if the remote driver supported it.

A bit irrevelant here as this is designed for solely htpc use anyway, so no password login enable needed.

Mighty Big Call that Ray. Plenty of us have multi-use PC's. Not much longer for me, but there will still be lots who do.

Your right it is a big call, but primarily that's what it is htpc software and that's where all the support goes.

So if someone want to make a driver\app mod that loads pre the login screen making a remote work for putting in keyboard strokes great.

this may or may not be possible, I'd have to look into it ... I'm sure it wont surprise anyone that there are limitations on what you can and cannot do during the login process ... security and all that...

I'll see what I can find out though...

    Cheers,

    Awesome and-81.
I wouldn't expect it to be part of the HTPC software but thought that might have been an easy way to do it because it already handles multiple remote types.

Just to add a note. I am currently working around the issue by disabling the CTRL-ALT-DEL requirement for logon and setting my password purely numeric. Then I can use my remote to enter the password :)

A little bit of a hack but at least no special drivers or anything required.
