Hi there,

I'm new here, actually this is the first time ever I'm in a forum.

I need a stand-alone HTPC only for watching and recording TV-programs (like VHS)

I just installed MediaPortal on my PC, with Windows XP pro - and I managed to crash it 3 times already. I have a lot of problems:
1. I need a script to prevent my PC from asking for log-in, I don't remember exactly how it was... Run:user2...control...??
2. I installed the SERVER MediaPortal - Was this right? - now I can't get any contact with my WinTV-PVR150 (Hauppauge)
3. In my Device Manager "Others" I have problems with finding drivers for "Multimedia Video Controller" and "SM Bus Controller".

Not bad for a start, is it...

Hi also,

1. You should add your system description to your profile; makes it easier to help you (Forum - User CP - Edit System specification.

2. Did you check the System requirements ?

3. You should istall your TV-card drivers from your manufacturer. I personally prefer even to install the manufacturers application (in your case WinTV). You first should be able watch TV with this software to be sure that you do not have a driver problem. You even can leave it, it does not harm any Mediaportal installation.

In my Device Manager "Others" I have problems with finding drivers for "Multimedia Video Controller" and "SM Bus Controller"
You should fix these problems first which have nothing to do with MediaPortal.

4. I would recommand "Single Seat Installation", which will Install Media Portal server (where you define your TV-Card, scan channels and so on) and Media Portal as client.

Good luck!
Alfred

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

    1. I need a script to prevent my PC from asking for log-in, I don't remember exactly how it was... Run:user2...control...??
    - No script needed. Use TweakUI

    2. I installed the SERVER MediaPortal - Was this right? - now I can't get any contact with my WinTV-PVR150 (Hauppauge)
    - Like AlfredENeuma said: Use singleseat. (Typical installation). I recommend to use TVServer. You do need the drivers for PVR150. (Nothing else)

    3. In my Device Manager "Others" I have problems with finding drivers for "Multimedia Video Controller" and "SM Bus Controller"
    - Try: Unknown Device Identifier - Freeware Download
