Using alternative remote with MCE Receiver (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have a MCE remote Receiver (It says SMK brand on the back).
I saw that the Receiver responds also to regular remotes and not just the MCE remote (the Receiver has red led light on Receive).

I was wondering if I can replace the MCE remote and use another remote (I.E. combo remote TV+Box+computer)?

Is that possible?
If yes, how?

Thanks,
Izik.:D

Hi and welcome to the forums,

yes, it is possible to use your receiver with a different remote.

I've just purchased this remote to control my
    TV, AVR and the PC.
    Works really great.

When setting up the remote you simply have to configure your receiver as a MCE one.

    Thanks,
But if I have irregular remote, for example I take a remote of a DVD player.
The IR codes don't match those of regular MCE remote (the receiver can recognize the signal).

What do I do in that case?
Is there any program that can works with the SMK reciever and match every key press to a computer command?
    Something like WinLIRC.

    Thanks again.
