using harmony with gigabyte ir receiver (1 Viewer)

Hi, I've got a friend who has and Gigabyte u8000 dvb-t usb stick which has ir recevier built in. He also has harmony remote and when it's programmed to mimic the gigabyte remote, it works although ir server does not register the signals. As it happens, that remote doesn't have much buttons so no play, pause, stop etc...
Is there any way to use its IR receiver and program the harmony to let's say MCE remote and map the keys then? We tried but ir server suite is not picking up the codes. Any ideas anyone?
