I've got an old Radio Shack IR>RF>IR repeater presently hooked up from my living room to control my temp PC set-up downstairs (my TV is connected via coax across the house). It currently works great with the MCE remote.
When I eventually have my HTPC running in the living room, I was wondering... instead of using both the MCE blasters to directly control my TV and VHS, I'd like to set up the repeater to control both devices with only one blaster mounted on the IR receiving unit (hidden out of sight) which then sends RF to the IR sending unit across the room. I'm thinking there shouldn't be any conflict with the MCE IR receiver. I just want to reduce the number of wires strung across my media center.
I have a universal remote that isn't quite universal enough to control my VHS, but if I can train the MCE Replacement plugin to interpret between the remote and the VHS I'd be happy.
Anybody see any difficulty with this idea?
Thanks
Chuck
