Using IRSS with GBPVR (1 Viewer)

I hope it's not offensive to ask a question about GBPVR and IRSS in here.

I have a satellite set top box, (Austar in Australia) which I can control with IRSS if I'm using Media Portal. If I try to use IR Filetool to capture the output from the remote, it doesn't capture anything.

The wiki says that the documentation for IR Filetool is still to be completed, so I was wondering if someone could briefly explain to me what steps I need to follow to use IR Filetool correctly. Alternately, I still have Media Portal on my machine. Are the IR captures stored in a file somewhere that I could copy, to use with GBPVR?
