Using Mediaportal as a desktop media player (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know if it's possible to use Mediaportal in the same way one uses, for example, Media Player Classic?

In other words, i want MP to open upon double clicking a file, rather than having to open MP, find my file, then play it.

I have a feeling this won't be possible, but i thought i'd give the forums a shot.

Short answer is no.

There is probably ways you could do this tho. Firstly MP would have to run in the background. And then you would need some kind of program that sees what kind of file you are opening (.avi/.mp3) and then switch to the correct part of MP before queing it in a playlist. For most people I think this is quite useless, and I dont think any programmer will do this for you. So unless you know how to program this yourself my short answer still is valid. Sorry..
