Using MediaPortal with Satellite/Cable Box (1 Viewer)

Question about Using MediaPortal with Satellite/Cable Receivers

Surely I'm not the first MediaPortal user who wished to use a Satellite/Cable Receiver as the program source to MediaPortal. In these cases, the channel selection is done in the receiver, and the material transferred to the TV via Audio/Video In connections. Thus, there is no channel selection beyond the Receiver.

Since computers don't commonly have the three RCA jacks that are used for A/V in (Video, Audio right, Audio left), I have a device which connects to these three lines and feeds the signal in through a USB port. MediaPortal appears to see this device, since it shows in MediaPortal Configuration/TV Codecs as

MPEG2 - htMPEG2 Video Decoder

and

MPEG2/AC3 - htAudioTrasFilter

However, I have not currently been able to get MediaPortal to show a TV image despite one being presented to the AVin/USB converter (and appearing on the screen with the software they provide).

Please provide instructions on how a device like this can be used with MediaPortal to provide program recording.
