Good morning

The laptop that i'm using has a fairly small HDD. I do have a NAS (MyBookWorld) that i store all my media on and use to stream content to front ends.

Is it possible to set up mediaportal so that, for instance, when I am using the pvr function it can record straight to my NAS drive?? If so how??

Regards

It's option in TV server to set the recording folder - you will have to consider network bandwidth, the raw TS stream is quite network intensive, so you need to be looking at 100MB/s networking.

In TV Server config, it's Recordings -> Folders, here you set the recording folder.

When recording to NAS, you need to check that the User ID used by the TV server has the permissions to write to the NAS (seach forum on 'recording to NAS')

Also, you need to look at where you'll store the timeshift data - if laptop has the RAM, suggest a RAMDisk (plenty of info in forum's previously) as data is ephemeral, it's no network overhead and doesn't impact disk. SD with moderate timeshift, easly accomdated in 4G RAM set up, provided your not using laptop for too much other work beside running MP.

In TV Server config, it Timeshifting -> Folder.

You may well need to tinker with values in General TAB. My set up - 1G RAM disk gives me 18 mins of SD buffering (all I ever need), with min of 15 files, max of 20 files and file size of 45M [all this will make sense on General TAB].

    Cheers - JCMP

Thanks ever so much for support. I'm just about there. Getting more used to how to modify things. Really is a great programme.
