Thanks for looking into this. It all sounds too difficult at this stage. My easiest option is probably to get XP MCE or Vista. It's supposed to be fully compatible with these. This won't allow me to have any extended functionality that your plugins offer.
I DO like the remote as it uses as it has an inbuilt RF mouse function using a Gyroscope in the handset to detect direction as you wave it in the air - no line of site required. It works quite well and gives me full access to any program functionality.
As an alternative, I'd be happy to loan the unit to a friendly Developer for a period to properly evaluate it, see what it would take to make it compatible with you Plugin etc.
Is this something you would be interested in, or do you know someone who would be?
Many thanks

When I've got the money to spend on such things I intend on getting an MCE keyboard and now I'll add this RF remote to the list.

I don't know of any developers in NZ that would be able/interested in supporting the remote. But if one is reading this and wants to give it a go, you know what to do.

What are these RF remotes worth, as a matter of interest?

    Cheers,

yeah, unfortunately I can't justify that sort of money at this stage. Though it looks like a really nice remote from what I've seen.

    Hi Happytalk,

yesterday I got this remote. Wanted to thank you for your excellent guide and .xml file. (Got it from amazon)
It seems to do pretty much everything which is possible in every section. This will be my last attemt to get comfortable with a remote instead of mouse and keyboard :)

One thing my imon pad can do is to hibernate and wake up my htpc. Is there a possibility to achieve this with remapping the power button?
(The imon pad doesn´t work well for me, because the IR-Receiver is behind a very shiny glass front of the htpc and most of the time doesn´t react on first key press).

I have configured mp to exit to tray, so with your .xml mp will go to the tray, but I haven´t found a way to get it in front again.

But more of interest would be to hibernate and wake the system again. If I remember correct, the imon pad was able to wake the computer because it is internally connected like a usb. Now the RF- remote works via USB, so this might work? (Already had it working with the imon pad, so motherboard, bios etc. are capable and ready set for this.)

Just in case it matters: I am using win xp

you can probably map it to do that in mediaportal?
by settings channel to 2 as in my guide you get around problem of doubling up of number keys and this also enables them to be remapped. As a side effect (that I was glad of) it disabled going into hibernate (or whatever you set in power settings) that it did by default. So you could set channel back to 1 and remove the keys that double up in my xml file, but it may have issues, first option would be better way if it works.

Hmm, it sounds like this device would need special code written to work with it. I don't think it will be as simple as changing a setting in the existing setup.

You really need a developer with one of these things to try to work it out for you. Unfortunately, I don't have one.

    Sorry,

I'm just wondering if there is anything new on possibly supporting the gyration remote. I have used it with VMC, which I hate, but I love the remote. I have been looking at MP and like what I see so far.
I think it would be a wonderful addition to MP.
    Thanks for all your work.
