Using video file name for thumbnail (1 Viewer)

I am not exactly sure how MediaPortal names video thumbnails, but this is the problem. There are many movies that have the same name in IMDB; for example, "The Kid" by "Charlie Chaplin" and another "The Kid" starring "Bruce Willis". When I scan and save the different movie details, Mediaportal uses a thumbnail called "the kid", and thus both movies have the same poster.

on my actual file, I have called one of the "charlie chaplin - the kid"; it would perhaps make sense if MP used the video file name to create/use the thumbnail. Hope that makes sense.

Can't you just use the database editor to link the correct imdb id and cover? Obviously this is only addressing that one issue.

Your bigger concern might be addressed by the database setting to auto accept full match. Not sure about the exact wording - not in front of MP now. Try removing that setting.

aar, I don't think I can; so, I have both the covers downloaded, and lets say the covers are called k1.jpg and k2.jpg

now, I go to the chaplin kid, select coverart, and choose the saved file "k1.jpg": MP will then copy this file to video thumbnail folder and name it as "the kid.jpg".
same thing would happen with bruce willis "the kid"; so whatever I do, MP is naming the final image file.

I might just be missing something here

PS: I already have the correct details: I have "auto accept" turned off, and manually selected the correct movie. All movie details including rating, actors, comments are correct: except the cover.
