Using Video Streaming (1 Viewer)

Hi!

So initially, when I installed MediaPortal, I installed it using the "I will not use MediaPortal to watch TV" option, since I am not connecting it to any TV card / TV service - it is strictly for local media files.

When I was finished, I realized I'd like MediaPortal to stream to other computers in my home network, so I reviewed the info in the site and noticed this might be an option.

When I read through, it seems like only TV streaming is possible. Could someone answer some of my questions so that I'll be clear about this?

1. Can I also stream local media files using Media Portal?
2. If yes, do I need to re-install the current MediaPortal using the other option? Could you please elaborate?

Essentially, my setup is this:
1 computer containing all the media files and running the centralized MediaPortal system and is also used for viewing.
2 computers that should only be used for viewing the material from the previously mentioned computer, meaning, streaming the media over to them using MediaPortal.

Help??

Thanks a bunch!!! :)

The clients also need to have MP installed on them just like the main PC, the only difference is when you add your watched folders for videos, music, etc. you will add the network location instead. Your PC you have all the content on will act as a file server. There is no need to setup any kind of streaming when MP can just view the files over the network.

You were right choosing the option you did since you won't have any tv tuners in your setup.
