i found the problem andi fixed it, although it is not exactly what i want. i installed graphedit and rendered one of my dvd (on hdd) files. and now it seems that selecting any of the codecs in MP has no effect. it is always using Nvdia video and audio decoder. in the settings of the audio decoder i changed from SPDIF to speakers (still connected with optical to amp) and now i have 5.1 on my movies, but the sound is not so powerfull. anyway if i change the codecs in graphedit to the pdvd codecs i'm not able to connect the pins. i get an error about that. i have no idea why. i didn't try any other codecs as i set my mind on using the pdvd codecs. maybe if i uninstall nvidia purevideo it might help. i didn't try that yet. before i also had spdif and ffdshow but i uninstalled that before i installed graphedit as i was thinking it could be the cause of the problem. maybe i should reinstall this and try again to connect via graphedit. especially for the sound. i have 5.1 now but i dont like the sound. i don't get the power like i have when i play straight from powerdvd8. maybe somebody knows a solution for that. there must be at least somebody who knows something to help me out. anyway it partially fixed, but still didn't reach the point of satisfaction and eargasm. montecristo
