Anyone looked into this? You can use it through your gmail account. And unlike skype Google have the api free of charge, so if someone is after a project, go do some investergating, I know there are alot of people wanting video calling. Im not sure if you can have a standalone app connecting or if it has to be though Gmail or alike, But worth a look.

Yes this would be realy nice, I think provide Google would be the best way. I have collect a list of interesting links about this Topic.
