Hi

I have been playing around with media portal the last few weeks and think its an excellent tool with all the add ons that I was looking for.

I have My TV series all up and running and also have dvd rips in my vids but I cannot get the video to show , I can hear the sound but no picture.

I get a black screen appear and behind I can see mp flickering in the background

ANY help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Graphics card information helps, it ATI make sure your using 8.7\8.8 drivers

Also in MP config (expert mode) directshow filters have you tried changing the vmr9\evr settings (evr needs .net3+ installed).

I have the same problems. Worked fine until i changed the DVD codec options today. Is was blank and i changed it to NVIDIA and also tried FDDSHOW. Both with blank screen. Sound is ok.
(I should never change changed the DVD Video Codec from "blank")

i had the same problem .
i solved it by going back to ati catalyst 8.4.
when i used 8.8 had to go to catalyst control center 3d config, and set as best performance and i got video back.
if i set it as best quaality i had to go to mp directshow filter control config , video renderer and check enhance video renderer and worked fine , and also in mpv decoder enable planar yuv media type has to be unchecked.
again i got back to caatalyst 8.4 i like best to waatcch my movies and play my games as best quality video on mp.
    hope i helped with this.

i realy like the ati cards. i own an integrated HD3200 on a gigabyte board.

    BUT: The drivers realy suck!!

each damn release another thing that doesnt work with the current configuration. the only thing to do then is the "try and error method" until it might work again.

    for example:

2 days ago i installed a totaly fresh os (vista 32 bit) to make a clean start. (messed my htpc up by installing to much not realy used crap) since then a cant get the video player working (MPEG, divx files larger then 700 mb, x264) mpeg even crash so baldly that windows restarts after showing a bluescreen for about 1 maximum 2 seconds. all other videofiles resulting in a black screen, then the picture comes back with a error messag saying that the displaydrivers had to be restarted caused by an error.

can anyone give me i a hint which catalyst version works most stable with windows vista 32bit (sp1 installed)

    Thx,
    Monchi

when i had the crashes with vista was because i installed the catlyst driver with my sound card installed.
so, i uninstalled the caatalyst drver, removed the creative sound card and reinstalled the catalyst and windows or mp did not crash again , then , reinstalled my sound card.
as you said every catalyst new driver messes something else.
so i'm sticking with 8.4, this one is working fine for me.
if you reinstal windows and catalyst drver make sure you dont have any thing else pluged to you mobo like sound cards, usb stuff and as for drivers install first catalyst.

if the catalyst sees something else on the mobo will create a conflict of interrupt asingment and mp will crash , that i learned installing this thing.
i'm no expert i just say how i made it work.
i have too an integrated hd3200 with a ga-ma78gpm-ds2h and now is really nice.
make sure you are not overclocking the cpu or video card before the installation, do it after everything is installed and remember the coment for setting it up i made previusly in this same thread if you plan to use catalyst 8.7 or 8.8
