Im using the internal player to play my movies, however I noticed compared to xbmc the picture isnt as vibrant or rich in color. Does anyone know what setting I need to alter to up the contrast and sharpness for the internal player?

One of the things you can do is take the color\contrast out of MP's hands, by changing the setting in the nvidia\ati control panel

    For nvidia these are under

    adjust video image settings
    adjust video colour settings

Both are set to nvidia controlled, with dynamic range set to 0-255 (black becomes black, not dark grey)

Sorry to dig up an old post, but it does seem to touch upon my problem.

I recently started using blu-ray and what with having a new plasma, I spent some time trying to get an understanding of the settings and getting the best picture with the blu-ray. This was all fine and dandy, but I gradually began to realise that the picture for my normal tv / recordings / movies was nowhere near as good.

Primarily I have a problem with dark scenes, which if I may, I will try to explain.

Essentially I found the best settings with blu ray with TMT was to activate the nvidia settings including the dynamic contrast setting. The dynamic contrast really seemed to bring out a lot more shadow detail without actually sacrificing the darkest parts of the scene. In fact having previously watched "iron man" without this setting, it was like watching a different movie (up till then I thought the cave was meant to be pitch black aside from the forground elements). It is relevent to note that I am able to toggle the dynamic contrast on and off and directly notice the substantial difference during playback.

I currently use cyberlink for my other codecs, but as I suggested, other source material is clearly suffering from the flattened contrast I had previouisly experienced with the blu ray. However, when I toggle the nvidia contrast setting there is no discernable difference. Now I know there is more detail to be had as raising the nvidia brightness setting shows it to be there BUT this obviously doing this washes the picture out, and effects the otherwise fantastic blu ray picture.

I believe what I am trying to say is does anyone know why the dynamic contrast setting does not appear to work with the cyberlink codec within mediaportal? OR is there a way to adjust the cyberlink contrast without turning off, or effecting the TMT settings?

    Hope this make sense.
