Video thumbs - squished when viewing by shares, is this right? (1 Viewer)

Hello,

MP is automatically creating video thumbnails for me, that's all good.

However, I tend to browse the folders containing videos by the share view, just because most of my stuff is never going to be identified on IMDB, I am not that patient.

So, the thumb that is generated and displayed is square (or widescreen, or something) but it is squished into a DVD aspect ratio placeholder.

Is there a way to either tell MP to create DVD sized thumbs, or to have it display in correct resolution?

thanks!

    Hi coopers

According to the code the resolution depends entirely on the "number of columns" and "number of rows" settings in the GUI -> Thumbnails section of MP configuration. If you want 16:9 format recordings to look roughly proportionaly in there then the best you can do is choose 1 column and 3 rows. You can try to hack the MediaPortal.xml config file (it can be opened in any text editor) if you want to add more rows - the setting that you're looking for is "tvthumbrows".

Thanks, that seems to be the best workaround!

That said, as a suggestion, there is plenty of room for a 16:9 aspect ratio preview on just about all modern screens...
