Ok, that's it! These codecs are driving me mad! I feel like Tweak at this point (whooaah! way too much pressure!!)

But seriously, I still can't figure out how to get my codecs right so I'm wondering, what do you guys use for you videocodecs and do you use the internal or an external player?
So what I'd like to know is what codec you use for:
Xvid:
DivX:
MPEG2:
H264/Mpeg4 Layer10/AVC:
VC-1 (WMV3, WVC1, WMVA):

Internal/external player:

Don't bother other formats (together with Real and QT alternative), the available material consists for 99% of these formats.

I'm really looking forward to your replies! :) :D

that works, just remember to throw a ton of bandwidth at it. 2.4ghz e4300 did the trick for me. sadly media player classic could render the media at 1.8mhz so i guess the media portal player is not so optimized.

powerdvd ultra (doesnt like haali mkv) did not work at all but when it does it rocks like 10-20% (1.8ghz e4300).

anycase i found everything plays quite nicely now that i've got mah $55 e4300 at 2.4ghz on stock cooling/voltage.

hopefully the newer versions will have better support for codecs for high definition.
