Synopsis::

I am not getting full function with a RF PC Remote Control. It is an X10 type RF remote control with IR URC functions. The brand is Video Mark. The remote control model is UR86EL. The USB receiver model is CM21E.
It came with Showshifter and PC Remote programmes.

With the PC Remote programme running I have mouse cursor & left/right click control in Media Portal but no other buttons function.

With the PC Remote programme disbaled or un-installed and the recommended X10 Driver installed with ATI & MCE modes enabled in Media Portal I have no mouse cursor or left/right click control but I do have up/down/left/right, mute, play/pause/rewind/fast-forward/stop, & power but no numeric controls and no function from other buttons (Menu, Subtitle, etc.). I've tried mapping but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

Any other Aussies (or Kiwis for that matter) using this brand of remote whom might know how I may set mine up?

I have been getting by with limited function as I mostly used Media Portal for basic MP3 & AVI playback and weather updates and since I have Foxtel Digital Pay-TV, there is little point in bothering with a TV card but my DVD recorder died recently so I'm using Media Portal as a DVD player more now so I need Menu & Subtitle controls and would also like to get all Media Portal's other features (web browsing, e-mail, news feeds, etc.) up & running too. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a link to the website for the remote.

I have looked through the wiki & the manual & user guides and have not found any help there and have searched the forum and found no help here either, perhaps the answer is staring me in the face.
I have also tried the Learn function in Media Portal Set-Up > Settings > Use RF Channel Control but it appears that the numeric keypad, mouse control pad, transport controls, & menu/cursor control keys all use different RF bandwidths.

Hello Xaviar,

I am in quite the same situation as you.
I bought the same remote on domadoo, it came with showshifter.

When I installed it first, I was not really happy with the software. I could use the mouse control buttons though, but sometimes I loose it when the focus changes...

But finally I uninstalled it and got mediaportal, installed the recommended x10 drivers.
At this point, I didn't have control of the mouse anymore, but unlike you I could use the other buttons like "menu" "exit" and numerics, but only in mediaportal. in configuration->remote->X10 I chose "other", I did not touch the default configuration.

Then I found LM remote keymap:
LM Gestion : LM Remote KeyMap : Installing the Firefly on Windows Vista, Window 7 (32 bits or 64 bits)

It got me control of certain buttons everywhere under windows.
My advice is to choose the "X10 MCE remote" and set a profile for mediaportal with action=none for all buttons. This way you can keep the configuration of mediaportal and use the remote to do other things under windows (modify the default profile for that). For example, you could set the power button to launch mediaportal.

If by any chance you find a software like LM remote keymap that is fully compatible with the UR86E/CM21E, let me know!

Cheers

Hello,

As a matter of fact yes!
I discovered EventGhost quite recently, I think it is a much more interesting software than everything else I tried.
It works like a charm with my remote and you can set up all the buttons, even the mouse control.
It just requires a small learning period.

I also changed my media center from MediaPortal to XBMC, because I had problems with the interface of MediaPortal on my new laptop.
I don't know if it is related to 64bit systems, but the GUI took around 1 second to react to any input, even from keyboard.
I tried also with the latest beta, I think I will try with the next release, but for the time being, I am quite happy with XBMC.

Regards,
