Vista MCE not receiving commands (1 Viewer)

I have previously used IRSS with Vista and my philips srm5100 VMC remote by deleting the CodeSetNum0-3 values from the registry, but after a recent reinstall (and upgrade to MP 1.01) i cant get it working with IRSS1.0.4.1 or IRSS1.4.2. (i dont see how MP 1.01 could be affecting this)

If i leave the values in registry i have a normal working MCE remote, if i install IRSS and open debug client then i cant see any commands (because media center is handling the remote), if i delete the CodeSetNum's and reboot then the remote doesnt work and debug client still cant see any commands.

This is driving me nuts, i have had this working before with the same hardware/OS and im not sure why its not working for me now.

Any forum posts just say a reinstall of IRSS fixed the problem, but its not working for me.

Media portal 1.0.1 did SOMETHING to remotes/blasting. I don't see how that could be, but it definitely broke the IRSS translator from working properly for me.

Im not trying to blast, only receive. i dont see how media portal could affect the input from the remote-> IRSS as people use IRSS without mediaportal

Did you happen to do a windows update lately? I also grabbed a security update or two from windows update the same day I installed 1.0.1. I could be thinking it's media portal when it was actually the security update.

I have managed to get mine working now.

i reinstalled IRSS a few times, deleted the c:\ProgramData\IR server suite folder and eventually found something that works under the input service configuration -> MCE config -> disable default inputs (or something similar)

checking that box fixed it for me.
