I plugged in the receiver, and it was instantly 'recognized' (without any notification) by XP. 'Recognized' because device manager lists is a standard keyboard (HID toetsenbordapparaat in Dutch, which literally translates to HID keyboarddevice). Some of the keys of the remote are working just fine (arrows, digits, play/pauze/etc, enter/esc/mute/etc. The power button shuts the computer down. Sadly, the typical MCE buttons don't work.
I just bought a Philips Vista MCE remote wich came with this IR receiver. I bought it at ebay for a new MP system I'm creating for my parents, but I've tested it with the system in the specs below (with the other remote/receiver disabled). I've literally googled for hours to find info and fix this, however I've failed. I've tried the replacement MCE drivers, but because the receiver is only listed as a standard keyboard (not as a USB device...:S ) I can't update the drivers (updating the 'keyboard' drivers didn't work). Tried Girder: didn't work. Tried another PC with XP_SP2 and MP 0.2.2.0, and the result was just the same. My configuration in MP: 'MCE remote' and 'Use general HID device' switched on. Without that HID option the arrows still work, but the play/pauze/etc. button's don't. So, does anyone know how to get the entire remote working? :thx: Why was I dumb enough to buy MCE equipment for XP? Watch the ebaypage-> it was listed as XP/Vista. The Philips links weren't supplied (not even the fact that the manufacturer is Philips).
