I recently changed the configuration in my main HTPC, going from a single hard drive setup to an SSD boot drive (MediaPortal installed on that) and a separate HDD for data. An unforseen consequence of that is that if the data drive has gone to sleep due to inactivity, then when I go to play a movie or video, it takes a few seconds for playback to start while the drive spins up. First world problems, I know :D. But with the single drive configuration, I guess just navigating the MediaPortal GUI would be enough to wake up the drive (loading skin files, writing log files etc I suppose), so by the time you get to the point of playing a video, the drive is already spun up. At least I never noticed such an issue with the old config.

So I am wondering if there is any way I can similarly cause my data drive to spin up once I touch the remote? I thought about using some file sync utility to sync the MediaPortal logs directory to the data drive, but that's a bit kludgy. I don't want to stop the drives from sleeping entirely, as the machine in on 24/7.

    Hi

Depending in plug-in, you may be able to log just the plugins you need [MPTVservie & MovingPictures spring to mind] to SSD - to get the level of logging needed to record the GUI events into log and so trigger drive, I think you'll need to set logging to DEBUG level:sick:

Suspect there are better options however(y)

    Cheers - JCMP.
