Maybe this only happens with German weather data?
Does the plugin use different URLs, depending on the country you live in?

I just found out that I cannot connect to www.weather.com. Just typed it into a browser - the page cannot be found... At least from here.

I'm getting data for Wolfsburg, Germany. No error.
Seems to work fine. Weather is getting better.

Using SVN 06-28-2006 with BlueTwo.

@ Waltz, are you sure your machines have a working internet connection?

just open a command prompt and enter nslookup www.weather.com

and see if you get a result back.

If not you have a dns server problem. You then can add a static dns server adress in the ip configuration of your network card (use an adress from another isp)

Ip adress from www.weather.com : 63.111.69.12

Have not found any other website with this problem so far.

wortelsoft: I get a result - it's the same IP (63.111.69.12).
But when I try a ping to this address, I just get a timeout...
This is strange.
May I ask which provider you are using?

Just tried de.weather.com and espanol.weather.com - can't find any of them.

This is really not a MediaPortal issue... Edited the bug forum thread accordingly.

They have disabled icmp echo requests (ping) respond on there webserver to prevent dos attacs (you can't ping www.microsoft.com either)

But if nslookup works than it's strange that you can't contact weather.com

hm i once had the same problem with several websites, using an old router. i couldn't get on the website, nor ping it ... somehow i found some threads about problems with the mtu-value.

it's just an idea, maybe you'll have a try and change it. there are many ways to change that value: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mtu+network&btnG=Google+Search :wink:

Thanks casatt - but I don't think there is something wrong with my computers or with my router; it worked without any problems some days ago... I think (and hope) it's just a temporary provider problem.
