Hi

On my media portal 1.1 rc2, I have both the dvb epg and the web epg plugin (some channels are not available on web epg for some reason)
My question is which takes precedence, the web epg or the DVB epg, if I delete a channel from the web epg list (because it has the sat listings) will the DVB epg automatically update it?

thanks
rob

Cannot say 100% in your situation, but I use ForTheRecord + xmltvGUI + DVB epg, with dvbepg set to override xml, reasoning is RadioTimes supplies Sat listings for channels which may not be 24\7 on dvb-t, also if a program changes, hopefully the epg will get updated, been working fine for a long time with this setup, so not gonna change.

Why use xmltv in the first place, much more series info :)

WebEPG will only update channels you have mapped to it, and only when it has data. If you configure DVB EPG to only grab data for the channels you don't use WebEPG, there will be no conflict. But if you are after some kind of failover (e.g. use DVB when WebEPG fails) it won't work. You EPG will periodically switch from the data grabbed by WebEPG to the data grabbed by DVB EPG and back. Since these won't match exactly (titles may be slightly different) your schedules may fail. Also there is no way to mix data from both sources (e.g. get title and description from WebEPG but episode number from DVB EPG).

Does this also work for 1.02?
It seems that in 1.02 when the epg from dvb is added, first all info is deleted, so that after an update only the channels which gets the data through dvb will have valid entries in my guide.

And if I run webepg, then only the channels which don't get their data through dvb have valid entries, and the ones from dvb are empty.

I know it was hard setting up my webepg, and in the end it worked great, but after adding a usb-dvb stick (and enabling epg through that) it doesn't work anymore.

IIRC, it is true in 1.0.2 as well but you have to clear "Delete old programs before import" in XmlTV imported plugin.

Wouldn't I get problems then if epg data is changed for programs? If I uncheck that option, old data is never overwritten.

You would if at some point EPG info was wrong.

or is updated by the epg-supplier...

I think the "delete old" should work on a per-channel basis, and not for the entire guide, that would be awesome! (But maybe that's how it works in 1.1?)

In 1.1.0 it works on a per program basis. That is only programs that exist in the new grab will be removed from the database. So if for some reason the grabber fails for on channel, or even just one day, the existing data for that channel and period will be retained.
