Kill Me, Oh Kill Me Now..!

I have an issue using WebEPG (www_imdb_com.xml) where it has been working fine until now. when I fire up the Grabber it seems NOT to find any channel information at all. It simply scans all channels from 1 through 50 but comes up empty when it says 'Finished Grabbing'.

I had this issue sporadic in past but it went away - now it will not go away. I have Stopped/Started the TVService and I have also rebooted machine to make sure no tuner is stuck. But scans continue to come up empty. I tried to find help on forums but went brain-dead without hitting on anything.

Any ideas anyone..?

Well, here's something new - now the WebEPG Grabber is hung up 'Loading Configuration...". I tried killing the TVService process and rebooting machine but still... 'Loading Configuration...' Will I have to kill DB and start all over..? We're talking hours on end here to redo everything.

Kill Me, Oh Kill Me Now..!

Don't kill the whole database. Try just clearing out the EPG info using the MySQL command line:

DELETE FROM mptvdb.program;

Alternatively you can use MySQL Workbench GUI although personally I find that harder to use. If you use the default configuration you will probably need to add a where clause that selects everything just to keep it happy:

DELETE FROM mptvdb.program WHERE idProgram>0;

This has solved WebEPG getting stuck a number of times for me.

Sorry octessence - The ire got the best of me. I uninstalled/reinstalled MP 1.6 then imported channels but getting same issue with WebEPG where it scans all 50 channels but finds no programs at all when 'Finished Grabbing'. I don't get it - Internet is ok and all cards are ok... just not finding any channel data. Although earlier it did grab 1 out of 50 channels it continues to not find any programs at all... I am at a loss now.

    NRivera, could you use TV Server Config, do a "GrabNow", and upload the TV Server log file for SetupTv.log.

    I normally use mc2xml/xmltv, but I enabled WebEPG, used my normal 13 channel WebEPG test setup for 14 days, and see 5535 programs imported when I do a GrabNow.

    If you use a web browser to open imdb.com, look at the tv listings for your zipcode, does this show the expected channels?

    If you look at the SetupTv.log file you should see lines with "WebEPG: Reading URL"for each channel/date when WebEPG tries to grab data. If you copy/paste the URL to a browser can you see listings for the channel?

    Ran as instructed - attached are log files... also included IMDB file. Sorry - answer to your last question on URL & listings is 'yes'.

    hmm, your running the old/original version of the US imdb grabber file, sort of surprised it works(ed) at all. See the wiki for info on downloading and setting up US WebEPG. Looks like its time to replace the old/stale "official" grabber file with the new working version. I'll look into the details so MePo 1.7 gets the up to date file.

    you should be able to copy/paste then edit your existing channel list, for example for "ABC SD" modify as shown below. Put your zipcode in the new grabber file.

    <Channel id="ABC SD" siteId="KTRK" />

    Yes it has been working without a glitch until today. I will download the updated one and see what happens - I will advise on result. BTW re-installing MP 1.6 did have the file I sent you. I looked for anything of an update but it was dated 2012 so I wasn't sure if that was the newest available. Will let you know - thanks for your help... :)

    Well my friends, looks like your insight was correct - MP 1.6 is carrying the older WebEPG IMDB file. I downloaded the one suggested fudged it as needed and it worked like a charm - A lot faster than the older one as too.

    Your intent to implement the new one into MP 1.7 is a very sound conclusion. All is well again in MP TV Land - thank you for your help and I look forward to MP 1.7 soon. Thanks again RonD and Octessence as well. Good work guys...
