I installed the new MP 1.0 RC2 over the weekend and decided to take the plunge and use the TV server (I'd always used the built-in TV plugin before). Mostly it's good (detects all three parts of my HVR3000 properly at last, and channel changing is much quicker :)), but the EPG is really confusing me. I use WebEPG and it always worked perfectly with the old version of MP, but with TV server I'm really struggling.

After searching the forums I found that I'd missed the xmltv mapping settings in the TV server config, which did get EPG mostly working. Why does it now need this mapping when it never did before?
Anyway, this is the first thing I can't work out even with searching:
In the xmltv mapping in server config, the drop-down list of channels does not contain some channels I want to use (e.g. ITV1 Westcountry, Film4 +1). Where does this list come from? Can I add extra channels manually, or is it hard-coded?

Apart from that, it all seemed to be working nicely. But the entire guide is an hour late, almost as if it's set for the wrong time zone. Do I need to adjust for BST manually now, using the time zone offset in tvserver? (never used to have to before). I found a few threads mentioning similar things after daylight saving time changed, but they all seemed to resolve themselves on their own.

If I can sort those couple of issues out, I'm happy :)

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Rob

Oops... possibly should have posted this in the TV server subforum. Mods please feel free to move it :)

    Found it!

I just had another fiddle with my system and managed to find the answers to my problems:

Those channels weren't appearing in the server xmltv mapping list because they had somehow lost their mapping in webepg, so didn't exist in the tvguide.xml file. Simple, but I just couldn't see that yesterday

The hour-offset thing seems to have been fixed by unticking the "compensate for time zone" thing in the tvserver xmltv plugin. By default it was enabled and set to zero hours, so I just left it, but that's what seemed to be cocking up the times.

All is well again with my MP installation :)

Thanks for posting your solution - my EPG has been an hour out since the weekend and this saved me hunting high and low for the answer.

    :D

Glad it helped you. I always find it really annoying when I search a forum, find somebody with the same problem as me, then they just say "OK, fixed it" without giving details, or never reply at all
