Hi Everyone, and welcome to my first post as I'm a new media portal devotee.
I've just built a HTPC and want to use it pretty much exclusively for Media Portal use. I've installed the software / extensions / skins etc I'm interested in, and am looking forward to configuring it all to my tastes. However I've run into one rather substantial problem, and it's driving me absolutely nuts.
I have 5 drives with HD Movies on them in mkv format, and another drive with my HD TV .mkv & .avi files on it. The problem I'm having is when I set up the video folders for Media Portal to scan it's as if the mkvs don't exist. The directory structure of the files is like this:
e:\HD Movies 1\A\moviefilename.mkv
e:\HD Movies 1\B\moviefilename.mkv
e:\HD Movies 1\C\moviefilename.mkv
f:\HD Movies 2\D\moviefilename.mkv etc etc
I have added the directory in to be scanned as follows:
e:\HD Movies 1\
f:\HD Movies 2\
etc etc
Now when I set it to scan, it finds one file, which is e:\HD Movies 1\A\A Nightmare on Elm Street.m2ts, the one non .mkv or .avi file I have across the six drives, and nothing else. It just can't see my mkv or avi files. I know it's scanning to the bottom of the directory structure or it wouldn't have found the one file it does find. The files are definitely there, and play fine if I try to watch them in MPC-HC or WMP and WMC finds them and adds them fine.... so why can't Media Portal see them? Moving Pictures won't see them either for the record.
I feel I'm missing something absolutely blatantly obvious and seeing I've been banging my head up against a wall for the past three hours I figure I might as well ask people with a lot more MP experience than me, I would really appreciate any help and insights anyone can give me.
