I have just reinstalled and I have the following codecs installed for handling SD and HD TV, and all films and videos i have:

PowerDVD 7.3

FFDshow (from ffdshow-tryouts)

Real Alternative

QuickTime Alternative

Haali Media Splitter

CoreAVC 1.6

So I have PowerDVD doing the first decode/deinterlace etc. FFDshow as a postprocesses to resize (even with all options off, I find ffdshow improves my picture).

I have CoreAVC for the BBC HD channel.

The Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative are there incase I have a Real or Quicktime file I want to play.

For audio, everything uses ffdshow. with most things sent via SPDIF to my decoder.
