    Hello everyone,

    Lucky me I got a Philips 42PFL7656K 3D TV for christmas :)
Then I bought a sony bluray drive and a new ATI 6450.

But sadly I'm not able to watch a 3D bluray ("Alice in Wonderland 3D") in 3D :(

With the bluray drive comes PDVD9. But it cannot recognize my TV as 3d-capable.
Then I tried PDVD11 Trial - this also tells me my hardware is not 3d-capable.

I tought when I buy ATI 6450 which is 3d-capable (and hdmi 1.4a) everything
should be ok -> which sadly is not ;(

Who can help or guide me how to play a 3d bluray from my htpc and
my philips is recognizing it as 3d content?

Playing some 3d test movies from youtube (side-by-side or up-down) and
directly setting the 3d input format on the TV is working.
But I thougt with hdmi 1.4a the stream/player/graphic card/.... is telling the
tv directly to switch into 3d-mode?

I think I don't understand it the right way

    Please help me,
    Thanks and greetings,
    Johannes

For watching 3D Blu-ray on PC you don't have that many options:
    1. Only three players support 3D Blu-ray: TMT5, WinDVD and PowerDVD (version 9 doesn't support 3D).
    2. You need a HDMI 1.4 compatible cable (DVI->HDMI doesn't work but Mini DisplayPort->HDMI does).
    3. The 3D display has to be set to primary monitor.

    Hello,

I have also problems with 3D Playback (with LG via Denon AV-Receiver):
    • PowerDVD (11): Needs at least a ATI 6800 Card o_O . I asked the Cyberlink support and it's documeted als in the technical specs...
    • WinDVD : Doesn't recognises 3D TV ...
    • TMT5 : 3D is fine :D! But most "normal" BR are stuttering... :(
After spending many hours in different driver/configuration/extra tools, I just found a workaround, with using PWDVD for "normal" BR and TMT5 for 3D...
    Greetings

    Hi Johannes,

don't know if it's working already or not. I only know it with Nvidia cards, where you have to activate 3d-vision in driver settings, after that pdvd recognices a hdmi1.4 device as 3d-cabable tv.

what i know from ati is, that you get some 3rd party application shipped (iz3d, ...) which is a layer between application and driver and makes the 3d stream for the tv. some complicated stuff! better for you would be a nvidia card, if have one and 3d in bluray is very easy there! sorry!

    Hey Guys,

I've had 3D working on my Samsung PS51E550 very easily just using the AMD APU from the AMD 5800k and using PowerDVD10.

Just curious as to whether it's possible to view 3D Blu-rays from within Mediaportal itself? Would be pretty nifty if at all possible!

Unfortunately, it's not possible yet since we need a new video renderer that can handle the 3D Blu-ray's Frame Packing. In the mean time you can launch an external video player from MediaPortal.
