I haven't tried to install mp 1.1.0 myself so can't confirm that.

I am usually installing databse myself, rather than letting mp install it for me with default password and default collation as collation is very important for me using russian and polish characters.

What i would try to do in your place is uninstall any databases which have been installed by mp and reboot computer,download any database you prefer, install it, configure it. You can find details in MediaPortal_Manual_Index - MediaPortal Manual Documentation

section 2.5

And later run setup and enter username and password which you specified when installing database.
