Which version of MP are you using?
With 0.2RC4 and latest SVN there is a play button in the main menu/window.

Just go to "My Videos", in the file list move 1 level up, and then you shoud see the drive letter for your DVD. Just select this drive, and playing away she goes.

    OKie Missed that.

Would it not be simpler just to put play DVD in the main menus ?

Iam going to try some DVDS now and see what happens :0

    Thanks.

It is in the main menu, if you're using latest SVN and the standard home screen (not the new "basic" home screen). In doubt always try Blue Two skin, please.

Furthermore, if you're using an MCE remote, hit the "DVD Menu" button to start the DVD player. (In very latest SVN, reset button mapping to default.)

    Hi,

why has this been changed and enabled by default?
Now everytime I hit the DVD Menu button on my MCE remote, 'cause it was one of the most used buttons to open the context menu,
now MP stops the movie or TV-show I'm watching right now and wants me to insert a disc.

I noticed the context menu has been switched to the i (info) button on MCE remote, but how can I get the Video OSD or the TV OSD???

Now there is a Play DVD button in home screen for those who want to play their DVD wthout going into video-screen,
why setting this function also on DVD Menu button by default?

I know I can map it on my own, and I really appreciate this function in setup, but the lost of Video OSD and TV OSD by default is quite strange.

    Maybe this could be undone?

    Regards

    Hi,

FYI: The info/OSD function is moved to the yellow button. Moving the context menu to the "i" button was done with ergonomics in mind: the context menu is used a lot and not having to reach for the DVD Menu button makes a lot of difference IMO.

Since with that change the DVD menu button is only useful when actually looking at a DVD, there was room for another function assignment. Play DVD is the most logical assignment (like it is with MCE).

Give it some time to get used to. Maybe you start to like it, maybe not. If you don't just take the previous default mapping and store it as a custom MCE mapping (so SVN updates won't overwrite your preferred mapping).

    Kind regards,
    Michel

The yellow button was the context menu, and the info button toggled the OSD. Now they've been swapped.

I would think it's more intuitive for the info button to toggle the OSD, given the label has an "i".

I'm generally very happy with the direction of MP development, but this just seems like change for the sake of it, and I'm not impressed.

Oh well. At least there's now a custom remote mapping mechanism.

    Hey, rantboy!

You know that SVN is work in progress, don't you? Better think twice next time and keep in mind that sometimes a little patience also solves things. It has been changed to sth better now (but definately not because of you, I just read your crap). Find it out yourself...
And no, I did not change it without a reason. I never do such things.
