Hallo,
I need help, hints to choose the right onboard graphic chip to connect my HTPC via HDMI to my Sony Bravia KDL 40D3500.
I am not sure which AMD chipset will be working with my Sony because in some forums people report problems using AMD onboard graphic chips with a Sony TV (No signal via HDMI). Any suggestions, experience which Mainboard with onboard graphic performs well with a Sony TV over HDMI?

Thanks,
Gerrit

    Hi.

I'm using a ASUS M3N78-EM with a Nvidia 8300 VGA/DVI/HDMI interfaces onboard connected to SONY KDL32P2530e and it's working perfect. If i have connected a PCIexpress NVIDIA 8500GT, the result is the same, then i'm using the NVIDIA 8300 Onboard VGA.

A little trick: in ASUS, the name of the motherboard is M3 (For AMD) , N (VGA NVIDIA), 78-EM (model and connectors). An M3A78-CM is for AMD, VGA ATI and model 78-cm. The name for intel CPU is P5N7A-VM, for example.

    I'm using Gigabyte.GA-MA78GM-S2H to Bravia 40W2000 (or 3000)
No real problems here. The "no HDMI signal" problems is no real problem I think
Just make sure you press a key or move the mouse before you switch your TV to the HDMI input.
Or if you forget it, do it afterwards and switch between input channels on the TV one more time.

Yust like normal VGA/DVI the mainboard switches off the display output when you stop working for a while.
Only the HDMI port doesn't pick up a restored signal after you switched to it.
So first restore signal by using the computer then switch the TV to HDMI input.

what ever you do..... dont get an intel integrated graphics card...

they have no support/programs to correct overscanning... i also have a sony bravia tv and had to get an separate graphics card because intel wont do it unless you wanna mess with custom resolutions (trust me you dont)... i went with a ATi 4550 card and love it!

I am using Asus P5N7A-VM in my HTPC, connected to my Sony 46W4000 using HDMI. Am using the onboard NVidia 9300 chipset on the motherboard and haven't got any problems after installing the latest nForce drivers from NVidia homepage.

My understanding is that 8200/8300/9200/9300 are quite cpu dependent, especially for 1080i.

Are these results for HD content, or just for SD?

If referring to HD (1080), what CPUs are you guys using?

    Hi.

I'm using an AMD 5200+, and my tv card is a Hauppauge NOVA-TD-500, with dual DVB-T tunner, and i can view a MKV video (1080i, because my tv is HD READY, not FULL HD) and recording two DVB-T channels without problems. I'm using MediaPortal 1.0.1.0.

My codec for h264 is COREAVC Professional, and for MPEG is Nvidia PureVideo, both HARDWARE ACCELERATED compatible with NVIDIA.

I almost always watch 1080p mkv. Have a Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 2,5GHz with a passive Scythe Ninja Mini mounted. Two 120 mm chassi fans running at lowest speed suffices to cool the CPU, tried running two instances of Prime95 for 18 hours with a maximum temperature of 45 degrees and idling at 29 degrees.

I use SAF, and CPU is 40-50% when running 1080p.

    Gigabyte.GA-MA78GM-S2H Uses ATI 3200
    Proc is Athlon X2 4850e
most content is 1080p and running very well. I'm not finished with all codec updates yet. Didn't look at Hardware acceleration yet.

I'm running the Asus P5N7A-VM with integrated 9300 and a very low end Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz. I usually don't play 1080 content since my display is only 720, but I occasionally stream from 1080 sources. I haven't watched closely, but I think the GPU is handling most of the video. I can run HD streams while transcoding XVid and transferring files without noticing any stutter or unreasonable temps.
