but now i will change vom dvb-s to dvb-c.

i want to know:

- works tv server with dvb-c?
- who use dvb-c?
- is it stable (timeshift, epg, recording)?
- which and how many cards do you use?

thanks a lot for your help.

it does work with my dvb-c cable provider. i'm using a twinhan mantis cab CI (conax modul), which works most of the time (although i experience regular BSODs because of some driver bug related to the CI). it used to work with my KNC1 card with FTA channels, but at the moment CI support is not working on this card, so i'm stuck with a single tuner.

aside from general bugs and annoyances in tvserver (which there are quite a lot, otherwise it wouldn't still be BETA :) ) it works pretty well and stable, and i use it on a daily basis.

    Hi,

I am using TVServer with FireDTV external DVB-C card which works fine (also with scrambled channels Premiere) and additionally a dual tuner Analog card.

Recording works fine except two occasions where the movie did not get recorded at all. Could not reproduce the problem though.

I use TVMovie Clickfinder commercial EPG data which works great (TVMovie Plugin works very stable).

Timeshifting I did not check actively.

What I found that watching Life TV with the Mediaportal Client plugin is rather slow (especially the startup and changing of channels) and sometimes I believe to see little "hickups" in the recordings.

    But definetly worth trying.

    hope it helps

yeah, this helps a lot. thanks for help eabin and est68 :). i think i try dvb-c with mediaportal.

the channels in germany are unscrambled by my tv provider. i want to build an homeserver (based on windows 2003 sbs) with mediaportal (as tv server) and use it in lan with tv server and mediaportal.

i would buy a card which is known to have a working CI-Interface, because it won't be long before most channels will be scrambled - even in cable networks. (my cable provider did just that a few months ago)

    Hi There,

I have used the FloppyDTV-C with the TVE3 server since it was released and i have no problems with the MP side at all. One issue has been with the FloppyDTV card where the FireWire connection has a tendency to fail...but with the latest firmware upgrade this seems to have been improved!

    My thoughts,
    Jens

    Multiple DVD-C cards

Anyone tried multiple DVD-C cards in one system ? possibly using a card-splitting system to allow one smartcard to drive multiple DVB-C cards. Otherwise I'd have to buy/rent more smartcards from the operator to be able to watchdifferent channels from different locations around the house at the same time.

I use a card splitter with two Twinhan Cab CI DVB-C cards. I used to have some problems with the CAM when coming out of standby (havent noticed that after switching to tv server though), but otherwise it worked fine.
