Same problem It was working fine for a while, then I installed Acronis, a few popcap games, XBCD (or whatever the x-box controller thing is), and a gravis controller through a SB Live gameport. I don't know if it started before one of these things, or sometime thereafter. However, if I hit Ctrl+Esc a few times, it'll keep going to the next few things. Hitting that or just Esc will eventually get it past each of the things it loads, and it works fine usually. Sometimes though, it locks up after it's running fine and while I am moving between menus using either mouse or MCE remote. I think all the problems started after I tried allowing the X-Box gamepads/HID devices to control Media Portal. Win XP Pro w/SP2 & all updates as far as I know (I'm getting .Net 2 again, as well as .Net 3 now, just in case) I think the vid card is a Nvidia MX400, AGP 512 MB ram Athlon XP 2400+ latest drivers for all things. MCE remote drivers that come with windows using 0.2.3.0 RC1 (downloaded svn today, will install later to see if it helps) -- can I go down to 0.2.2.0 without losing all "My Programs" settings, etc? It still does this when I close all processes running except the ones required (meaning system services, etc). Let me know if the Ctrl+Esc helps anyone else and I'll see about putting more info about my system. Edit: I've now attached my logs. This is after uninstalling & reinstalling MP, using 0.2.2.0, then uninstalling & reinstalling .net 2.0, then uninstalling MP & installing 0.2.3.0 RC1. I also used msconfig to turn off all startup items except NVCpl. I haven't looked that one up yet. What happens is that it doesn't get beyond the "initializing directx" unless I hit Cntrl+Esc a minimum of three times, and then it stops again at "initializing skin" until I hit Cntrl+Esc at least once. Once started though, I was able to use it properly. No freezeups these times around. However, I didn't have any of the gamepads connected, nor the MCE remote. Has anyone else that is having this issue tried Cntrl+Esc? Any ideas as to what is causing the issue?
