Why is Windows Media Lite or WMLite + MPC-HC not enough for Media Portal? (1 Viewer)

Greetings, I am installing Media Portal now and I knew WMP is necessary, but I thought I could try running Media Portal without WMP, only Windows Media Lite or if that wouldn't work, WMLite. And ofcourse MPC-HC.

But since I cannot tell the installer NOT to download and install WMP11, I cannot try this. I wonder if anyone has ever considered the full Windows Media Player might not be necessary for Media Portal to function correctly?

I haven't used or installed WMP in 4 years (removed it from my windows cd long time ago with nLite). That's why I would like to test with WMLite or Windows Media Lite (currently installed).

Microsoft in their wisdom, decided to put some very necessary fixes, made to be only available with WMP11 installed, so that's why it is a compulsory requirement, the only time I use it myself, is if I need to test something actually works with windows itself, rather than mediaportal, this is normally one of our users requests at why something does not work for them, and may relate to system codecs, rather than a individual player that has all the codecs built in.

I may even go 3 month's without opening it and getting that EULA message :)

    Regards
