Im pretty sure that Win2k was ruled out when something was introduced a little while ago (Im not talking about the SBE components). The ATI7000 may not be up to the job in terms of DX8.1/9 support but it cant hurt to try. And your missing a tv card?

You need a DX9 gfx card, I belive.
Cheap examples are the FX5200, 6200 or ATi 9250 (probably 9550 to).

    The 9250 is dx 8, the 9550 is dx9

    You're right!

I was sure that 9250 was DX, but after some gooling I see that this is not true. Sorry!

The 9600SE should then be a good choice in the ATi section.

You should be able to run mediaportal on such a system, but it would be better if you used a faster DX9 compatible card. I used a 2,6 Ghz Celeron, 512MB and AIW7500 PCI computer and it could run MediaPortal quite well as long as I used the default MCE skin. Other skins used DX9 functions more, resulting in too slow performance for normal operation (it even hangs MediaPortal).
