I hate to make a whole post about this, but I don't really want to buy, wait for, get my hopes up, and then result in disappointment. So i figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, will this remote work:

It depends...

The receiver is a Microsoft MCE V3 receiver that is "designed for Vista".

If you are using Windows Vista, then it will work just fine.

If you are using Windows XP (any version), you will most likely have problems getting it to work...

You can still get the MCE V2 units that ship with IR transmitters for a similar price both at retail or online location... and they will work for botth XP and Vista.

NOTE: If a unit comes with a black remote, it is most likely a V3 unit.
