Windowed TV shows black and flashing (2 Viewers)

Hi can somebody please help.

I have a freshly installed XP with MP1 RC3 installed using TV Server.
Using ATI Catylist 8.10 drivers

When I look at 'My TV' and there is a small preview box showing the current channel, there is a problem ...
this box is black and every few seconds 1 frame of the video will flash in the box, and black for another few seconds, then 1 frame will flash again. The audio is fine.
If I click into the box and go TV full screen everything is OK.
It is just this little windowed box causing the problem.

Can somebody help please?

Do you have dynamic contrast enabled in CCC? If I enable it my preview box freezes MP entirely.(Catalyst 8.11)

Flashing preview window with ATI drivers

I have the same problem with my Catalyst 8.10 when seeing the TV in a preview windows. Does anybody have a fix for this? I don't have this issue with NVidia drivers on my other setup.

Thanks for the suggestion - I don't have that option available unfortunately. It says that option is only available for some cards.

I see ATI have 8.11 drivers up, am going to try those ... BRB!

Just curious pinnocchio, what motherboard and card do you have?

Yeah - I wonder if it's that x1250 - I have the same chipset.
I have an Abit Fata1ty F-190HD board with x1250 onboard.

I just tried the 8.11 drivers, no luck, and then I tried 7.3 drivers but still the same.

It's funny a couple of months back I tried MediaPortal, RC1 or RC2 I think and I didn't use the TV Server, I just used the inbuilt 'classic' TV Engine - it worked fine and I didn't get this black box and flickering.

Coincidence? But when I started using the TV server I get this issue.

Can anybody help here please??

Might be worthwhile installing all the .net updates upto 3,5 + the directx august update and try EVR, see how that performs, expert mode in MP config needs to be enabled to see the directshow filter controls to change this as video renderer.

This problem of the "flashing" or black Video/TV preview window is due to a bug in the ATI drivers. The symptoms vary depending upon which skin is used in MediaPortal, and the bug seems to have been introduced since CCC 8.3!

I would like to log a bug report with ATI, but I have not yet figured out how to clearly describe the issue, as I doubt if ATI have an install of MediaPortal available to them so they could see what I am trying to describe ...

My PC at work is with integrated X1250 graphics and I have excactly same issue... RC3 + newest SVN

And yet I have the problem on CCC 7.3
Perhaps a different issue? Or maybe because I used to ahve 8.10 installed, the bug has stayed in the system even though I have uninstalled it and installed 7.3

I already had .Net 3.5, but I installed 3.5 SP1
I installed the November 08 update to DirectX 9.0
I used the EVR as suggested.

Now I can continue with my life and set up the rest of MP.

Update:

I was using ATI 7.3 drivers when I did all the above - and yes it worked, even though the 7.3 drivers were causing the problem also.
So I updated back to 8.11 and the problem re-appears.
Back to 7.3 and the problem is gone again.
So it seems a combination of ATI drivers and the .net/DX and EVR.

Interested to hear the results of any others with this problem.
