Yeah, that definitely helps - thanks. (y) I'd like to preface the comments below by emphasizing that I'm not an MPAR expert. The primary reason I responded was simply to ask for the information I knew would be needed to help you. Now that the information is available, I'm hoping somebody who is more knowledgeable will be able to step in and assist. Until then, I'll try to help as best as I can... :) To me the logical thing to do when approaching this problem seems to be to compare the MPAR log files for "The Job Lot" and "Transformers" and see if any differences stand out. My assumption in doing this is that any differences in the logging would somehow explain or correlate to the difference in playback results. So, that's what I've done. The only significant difference that stands out to me is the difference in source audio encoding.

The Job Lot = 2 channel MPEG 1 layer 2
Transformers = 6.1 channel DTS ES
Are you able to say whether there are similarities or patterns with results for other sources? For example, do you always have failure with mono (1 channel) or stereo (2 channel) sources, and always have success with 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 channel sources? With regard to MPAR + TV... I'm struggling to follow those log files due to the limitations of my knowledge/understanding. The only intelligent question I feel able to ask is: does it make a difference if you switch to the alternate/other audio stream? To be clear, BBC One HD has 2 audio streams: [2015-11-18 06:46:27,263] [2a6f1940] [2a00] - audio pid: 40 language: NAR type: MPEG1 - audio [2015-11-18 06:46:27,263] [2a6f1940] [2a00] - audio pid: 41 language: eng type: AC3 The log files show that MP selects the 5.1 channel AC3/DD stream. I'm wondering whether there's any difference in result if you try the MPEG 1 stream.
