Windows 7 - Initializing Directx error on startup (1 Viewer)

This error occurs for 1.02 and 1.1 when automatically starting Mediaportal from a reboot.

I've managed to find a fix for the problem, but would like someone to confirm that it is an issue with windows 7 as I took me a long while to figure out what was wrong.

I am documenting here in case anyone else has the same issue.

This will sound strange however...

When using a 'solid color' for the desktop background,on startup the windows 7 welcome screen takes around 30 secs+ to load past, this in turn throws up a problem in the startup of mediaportal where mp stops loading at the 'initializing directx' sequence.

After killing the MP process and restarting mp loads in fine.

This was occurring on 2 separate windows 7 clients.

Fix: Change the desktop background to an image and the problem is solved.

Found a reference on the net after much searching,which suggested the a solid color background was making the welcome screen load slow.

Confirmation would be great - as there is a clear possibility i'm going crazy...

Another solution is to start mp by a batch file that calls sleep.exe 30 before starting mp.

or just use the startup delay built in to MP. set it to 30 seconds. no need to do anything crazy, use batch files, or anything. just the startup delay in MP.
