I was able to work around the problem by uninstalling RC4 and re-installing RC3. RC3 installed with no problem. When I then tried doing an Upgrade Install to RC4, the problem re-occurred.

I attached all the logs I could find in both the MediaPortal and MediaPortal Server directories. Where is the TVE directory?

Okay. I attached all of the logs from both directories.

    I also tried the following:

I did a Complete Product uninstall of RC4 and then a Fresh install of RC3. The same problem occurred (I saved the logs from this installation).

I then did Complete Product uninstall of RC3 and then a Fresh install of RC2. The problem DID NOT occur.

I have been able to work around the problem by rebooting my PC after the installation finishes (I still get the Windows error message) and disconnecting my WinTV adapter while it boots. TVService will then start. I then plug in the adapter and enter at the Windows command prompt; 'net stop TVservice' then net start TVService' Everything works fine from then on.

Good move! But the issue is unfortunately related to your card: it needs a bit more time to initialize. Once installed you can fix it using the delaied detection in SetupTv but I fear we cannot do anything for the installation phase.
