Windows XP and SBS Domain (1 Viewer)

HI all

Just wondering if anyone can advise on what the ideal settings are for using Media Portal as part of a Small Business Network.

Got TV Server running n Windows Xp and since that runs as a service no need to worry about unattended logins etc.

The Media Portal machine for the TV however Ive set to use special login (media) which auto logins at startup ... thus Mediaportal is ready and running for watching TV.

That bit is working fine, however the trouble comes when I want to Remote Desktop onto the machine of course it will attempt to start MediaPortal for all logins ... and the display doesn't work when viewed over TS.

What would be awesome, somehow, is to have Mediaportal start automatically only for the "media" login and not for any others ... and still have media login at startup automatically.

Or is there another recommended way of doing this?

can't you just add MP to the start up folder of the media login?

I can't see any reason that wouldn't work.

When MP starts with a black screen, just hit Alt-F4 to close it. Useful if you have to do something with the 'media'-profile.

easy .. rdp to the machine with the following command

mstsc /console (enter)

It will actually take control of the console session you have autologged into if you use the same username and password that the autologon user has used ..

Just upgraded to the new version of Media POrtal, plus a new domain as part of a SBS upgrade.

Found that the new release woldnt run as a domain user, and needed to have Write Access to the Program Files folder in which Media Portal was installed.

Error given was:
EventType clr20r3, P1 mediaportal.exe, P2 0.9.1.31062, P3 4808c91d, P4 mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 4333ab80, P7 32f8, P8 15a, P9 system.unauthorizedaccess, P10 NIL.
