Here is my dilemna, the remote works OK in VMC but performance is lacking and the card isn't even compatible with MCE. After several issues with the other two, I thought I would give trying to configure MP and my factory 1000S remote one last try.

Can somebody please help in providing some info on how to go about this. I mucked around briefly before with CoolRemote (??) but I was unable to map any buttons.

For what it's worth, I'm very happy to go back to XP SP3 in order to get this working.

Hi, I also have the 1000S and tried to set up the remote as described in this thread. I didn't have any success and ended up replacing the remote with the microsoft one that just works. I highly recommend it.

I never even bothered with it I just used the MS remote too,
the big plus is you can also turn on your TV and adjust your volume
