I have been using Windows Media Center on win 8.1 very successfully for my media needs. I use 8 tuners on 2 different PC's. I will need to find another program if I want to upgrade to Win10 because WMC is no longer available in that OS. I can't get the TV setup on Media Portal 2 to scan channels on the WinTV-DCR-3250. This is a 3 tuner network box that uses a Cable card from Time Warner Cable. I've tried every editable setting and still don't get any channels found. Can someone please help?

Thanks,
KennyD

    Hello and welcome Kenny :)

I've tried every editable setting and still don't get any channels found.
    Fiddling with settings won't help.

    Can someone please help?
    Sure. :)

First, can I ask: are you sure that you want to use MediaPortal 2?

In making the decision about whether you should use MediaPortal 2 or MediaPortal 1, I think it is important to be aware that MediaPortal 2 is a work in progress. There will be issues and missing features. Of particular relevance for you: there are known issues with CableCARD tuner support in the latest release. It is not impossible to get CableCARD tuners working with MediaPortal 2, however most people are using MediaPortal 1 (which is our "mature" product)...

    Regards,
    mm

    Thanks MM.

I've not had any experience with these applications. I guess I erroneously assumed MP2 would be the most recent version. I'll download MP1 and give that a try.

    Thanks,

    Hi KennyD,

there were known issues in the Summer'15 release with TV support. They have already been fixed in this available build: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/mediaportal-2-sr15-update-1-snapshot-2015-08-03.131533/. There will also a new release of MP2 in the next few days, which brings also new features.

So it's not only "not impossible", it's quite easy to get a good working MP2 installation by using the linked installer above. So you still can try what the best solution is for you.

I have installed MP1 now and have had better luck getting channels to scan on my Hauppauge 1800 with a terrestrial antenna. I'm still not having alot of success with my Hauppauge 3250. I'm getting a lot of unknown channels and not seeing the full range of channels that I subscribe to. I'm using Time Warner Cable in the United States.

Also. When I run the Media Portal and try to select the TV, I can't get past the home screen. It puts up a menu next to the TV tile but I can't select anything.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The wiki (manual) explains why you might be seeing lots of "Unknown..." channels, and what to do about it:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...V_Servers/7b_Scan_ATSC#Digital_Cable_Scanning

My recommendation would be to delete all your "Unknown..." channels then follow the guide here carefully:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/cablecard-tuner-support-for-mediaportal-1.112585/

Also. When I run the Media Portal and try to select the TV, I can't get past the home screen. It puts up a menu next to the TV tile but I can't select anything.
That's because the default skin (Titan) is designed/intended for use with a remote control rather than a mouse.
If you intend to use MediaPortal with a mouse you can try the "DefaultWide" skin. It also comes with MediaPortal. Select it in MediaPortal Configuration as shown here:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...diaPortal_Configuration/13_GUI#Skin_Selection
