MediaPortal Version: 1.02
Windows Version: Windows XP, SP3

Hi.

I have a frustrating problem on my windows XP machine. During installation, right at the start the installer keeps telling me there is not enough disk space to install mediaportal and that it needs 500meg to install. There is vastly more space on my hard drive then this. I am trying to install client only so i can use this machine to connect to my working version of Mediaportal on my My windows vista machine.

The machine is fully updated SP3 with all the latest VC runtime, DirectX, .NET etc. Ive tried installing it on 2 different drives (Both NTFS) with no success, tried different versions of the installer, no luck.

After going through the forums for a couple of hours i cant find anyone else with this problem so im assuming it has somthing to do with my XP installation, ive tweaked the registry for performance in the past (this is an old machine) but cant remember everything i fiddled with.

Im baffled, any suggestions?

Still have this problem, but.

I copied the installation files from the temporary directory the installer creates to a different location after it had initialised the install GUI, installed the client and server separately from the install files in the decompressed temp folder. I Installed SQL server Express separately and configured it all and now its working.

Definately a long work around and tricky to configure this way. I still have not identified why the install program reports that i have less then 500m on my hard drive, no other program has ever done this.

Still, it's working now *shrug*
